Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2012!

This year promises to be a busy one, for the club in general and for the website in particular – stay tuned!

All the Peterborough Lions would like to thank the people of Peterborough and surrounding areas for your support over the past year, and for your donations, whether you saw us with Santa and his Carol Float in the past weeks, or bought a quiz leaflet, or any of the other ways we’ve been supported in 2011.

Rest assured all the money raised will be put to good uses (if it hasn’t already!), and be just as assured our fundraising efforts will be back in the New Year to provide resources for welfare and projects in 2012.

We hope you have a great Christmas! See you soon!

Peterborough Lions on Facebook

We now have a Facebook page! Thank to David Bainbridge for setting this up. Take a look at http://www.facebook.com/PeterboroughLions – it’s a little sparse at the moment but stay in touch!

Peterborough Mayor Becomes A Lion

Peterborough Lions had the pleasure of inducting the Mayor of Peterborough, Councillor Paula Thacker as an honorary Lion during her term of office (Paula’s term runs from mid May 2011 through to Mid May 2012). Prior to her induction as a club member, the Mayor had been welcomed as a guest of honour to our “Lions Showtime” event, and we hope to see mayor frequently over the course of her year in office.

Councillor Thacker is shown here with the outgoing Peterborough Club President, Lion Paul Browne, and the incoming president, Lion Gaby Sharman.

Donations welcome!

Peterborough Lions Donate to Peterborough LionsClub is now able to accept donations online. All card processing is handled securely by BT’s MyDonate service, and we benefit from Gift Aid on qualifying donations too!

New photos added

A selection of new photographs have been added to the site:

Handover 2011

A great time was had last night by everyone who attended handover at Highgate Hall in Elton. Lion Gaby Sharman has now taken the responsibility of club president from outgoing president Lion Paul Browne, and the event was marked with fish and chip supper and a barn dance provided by Ock n Dough.

To the great embarrassment of all concerned, some photos are now online….

It was a bright sunny morning, with a cool breeze, when we met at the Materials Recycling Facility operated by leading recycling company Viridor at Fourth Drove, Peterborough.

Peterborough Mayor Becomes A Lion

Peterborough Lions had the pleasure of Inducting Mayor Keith Sharp as an honorary Lion during his term of office (Keith’s term runs from mid May 2010 through to Mid May 2011. Our Mayor had already attended our “Lions Showtime” so had experienced Lionism where the rubber hits the road after meeting and greeting our 130 Older Guests to the 3rd and final night of our Annual Showtime.

The Mayor’s secretary sent the note below the day after his induction. “The mayor told us that he enjoyed last night’s meeting and is honoured that he is now a Lion!”
